Natural Materials are Ideal For Your
Home, Garden or desired project …
Wherever possible and viable, Eco Bloom uses natural and or recycled building materials. Below are but a few of Glenn’s favourite’s…
COB
-A mixture of Clay, Sand. Straw and Water and can be used to build homes and gardens and shelters of various styles and shapes .It is one of the oldest and most durable ways to construct your home, A pleasure to all who work with it and when used plays a huge role in both Nature and the Eco building society,
WOOD
-we source our wood in so many different ways ! . from naturally fallen trees . a lot of pre-loved wood from previous projects . wood found discarded in skips. , reclaimed railways sleepers to name but a few. Wood is integral to our building style and one we treat we the up most respect
NATURAL STONE
- I have built walls from so many different natural stones and each one carries its own individual strength and character , My first education in building was with natural stone walling and i quickly saw the ART and patience required. It is an ancient trade and one that sits perfectly as the foundation of Eco building.
REUSED doors, windows etc
- the abundance of windows and doors available online never ceases to amaze me. With the speed at which our current building system is moving it is no wonder there are plenty of perfectly good windows and doors to choose from . ones mans trash is another mans treasure !
PALLET WOOD
- ahhh pallet wood ! To date i imagine i have taken apart over a thousand pallets and used them to build everything from kitchen cabinets , shelving units , counter tops , garden walling , chicken coops , compost toilets and flooring . They are the gift of free wood you will find almost anywhere and always add a lovely charm to any Eco project…..
TIRES
- They say there are more car tires on the planet than there are trees . When i heard this it certainly came as a shock to me too. I have built many things from car tires including a house, retaining walls and even a fire pit. They are super strong and extremely durable and are free to get from most any Garage. Until we stop the production of Tires me must try to up-cycle them for a better use
GLASS BOTTLES
- The Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle is my favourite of them all and one I have incorporated in many a project . Its calming turquoise color always brings a touch of beauty to a project whether used as a window or lit up from within . Bottles come in such stunning varieties they are like the jewel of the Eco building world…..
